Cabin Descriptions

There is no electricity at Louis Lake!  That's right, no televisions, no telephones, no refrigerators, computers, etc.  Bring your own flashlights, and we provide propane lanterns, bedding, and towels.  Even cell phones don't work well at Louis Lake. The closest grocery store is in Lander, which is 9 miles down a dirt road and another 30 miles on highway.

Pack for an adventure and make sure to bring coolers with plenty of food and ice!

Cabins 1, 2, & 3 are identical. They were hand built in the 1930s. These one room rustic cabins have 2 double beds, an antique wood-burning cook stove and a dry sink. The common bath house is nearby with hot showers and flush toilets. We provide all linens, basic kitchen utensils and fire wood. View floor plan

Cabins 4 & 5 were also built in the 1930s and are connected with a common wall. They are one room cabins with two double beds, an antique wood-burning cook stove and a dry sink. These two cabins are slightly larger than units 1, 2, & 3 so there is more room for a cot, extra chairs or tables. Cabin #5 is located closest to the common bathhouse. View floor plan

Cabin #6 was completed in 1998 with native logs cut from the site.  It comfortably sleeps six people, with room for two more on a futon in the main room. There is one bedroom with a queen bed, a sleeping loft with a double bed and two single beds, and a main room with a double futon.

The kitchen has a propane stove/oven and a sink with running water. The bathroom has a hot shower and flush toilet. We provide all linens and basic kitchen utensils. Propane heaters warm the cabin. From the front porch you can enjoy the view of the lake. View floor plan

Cabin #7 is identical to Cabin #6, it was completed in 2001 also with logs cut from the site. It is located about 50 feet from Cabin #6.

Cabin #8 has one queen bed, a bathroom with claw foot tub, and a small kitchen. This cabin is secluded, located way in back, near the creek, and close to a fire pit.  The rare mountain flower, the white columbine, grows all around it. The cabin is decorated with white furnishings with completely hand hewn chinked logs.

The Lodge is partially completed.  For the 2008 season two bedrooms and the main multipurpose room will be available for rent. When completed the 4,500 sq ft Lodge will include 5 rental bedrooms, a large multipurpose room, kitchen, reading loft, and employee rooms. The Lodge will be open both summer and winter.
